Great News! National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) second trimester applications for the 2024 academic year are open as of today, May 13th 2024. If you are a TVET College student looking for funding, then this is the perfect chance for you to apply.  

 

2024 NSFAS Second Trimester Applications for TVET College Students 2024 

About NSFAS:

NSFAS it's a South African government initiative designed to help disadvantaged students further their higher learning studies in public universities and colleges by proving them with funding. NSFAS offers bursaries and loans to eligible students. Bursaries don't need to be repaid, while loans require repayment after graduation and securing employment. The financial support from NSFAS alleviates the pressure of paying for tuition and living expenses, allowing students to focus on their studies.

 

FIELD OF STUDY

The NSFAS bursary is open to TVET College students who want to pursue or a pursuing an undergraduate qualification in the following fields:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Other Engineering courses

 

NSFAS COVERS THE FOLLOWING EXPENSES

NSFAS funding for TVET College Students cover a variety of expenses, including:

  • Tuition fees
  • Registration fees
  • Living expenses
  • Transport costs
  • Textbooks
     

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NSFAS BURSARY

To qualify for the INSFAS Bursary, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You must be studying at any TVET College in South Africa in 2024
  • You must intend on studying at any TVET College in 2024
  • You must be studying or intend to study any trimester engineering course
  • Your total household income threshold should be R350 000 or less OR R600 000 (if living with disability)

 

NSFAS BURSARY REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  • Your certified ID copy
  • Your parents or guardians certified ID copies
  • Your parents or guardians payslips (If working)
  • NSFAS may require additional documents such as a marriage certificate, proof of legal guardianship, SASSA grant recipients, disability annexure form, IRP5 form, death certificates if your parent(s) is/are deceased and divorce certificate if your parents are divorced

 

How to apply for the NSFAS Bursary as a TVET College student for the 2024 academic year 

2024 NSFAS Applications for the second trimester should be submitted online on the NSFAS website. The second trimester NSFAS applications are ONLY open for TVET College students. If you are a university student, unfortunately you are not eligible to apply in this NSFAS application cycle. 

Steps to apply for NSFAS for second trimester: 

  1. Visit the NSFAS Website HERE
  2. Click on the "myNSFAS" tab
  3. If you already have an NSFAS account, login with your ID number and password
  4. If you don't have the NSFAS account, click on the "create profile" button to create one
  5. Begin your online application

 

CLOSING DATE:

The closing date for the NSFAS applications for second trimester of the 2024 academic year is the 31st of May 2024. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted. No applications will be accepted from the university students during this application cycle.
