Central Johannesburg Tvet College is one of South Africa’s 50 prestigious public Technical Vocational Education and Training institutions, overseen by the Department of Higher Education and Training. It aspires to be the nation’s preferred public TVET college by developing, empowering, and preparing students for job and entrepreneurship opportunities that will contribute to the country’s economic development.

Central Johannesburg Tvet college aims to offer an improved access to a more diverse student population. It is their ultimate aim to uplift the economy through active entrepreneurial training and the preparation of students for the world of work.

All South African students, including prospective students, are eligible for NSFAS bursary if they intend to study at CJC or any other public tvet colleges.

The College’s programs are vocational or occupational in nature, suggesting that the student is seeking education and training in order to pursue a certain set of jobs, employment, or entrepreneurial prospects.

STEPS TO APPLY ONLINE
Step 1: Click here to apply, accept the application rules and click "continue"

Step 2: Capture your biographical information and click "next" to proceed with your application;

Step 3: Capture results details then add subjects and click "next";

Step 4: Capture educational institution detail and click "next";

Step 5: Capture academic application details (choose 2 choices/programmes you wish to apply for), click on "add qualification" and thereafter click "next";

Step 6: Verify/Check your application details then click "continue";

Step 7: Create your 5 digit PIN (e.g 24689), click "I accept"(twice) checkbox thereafter click "Submit Application";

Step 8: Upload your documents, select "yes" on the dropdown list if all your documents are ready to be uploaded and then click "next";

Step 9: Click "Load/View Document" >> "Upload document" >> "Choose/Browse file" go to the folder where your documents are stored, choose the relevant document and click "save";

Step 10: Once all documents have been uploaded click "complete upload";

Step 11: Confirmation Page, end of application

GENERAL SA TVET COLLEGE INFORMATION 

GENERAL SA TVET COLLEGES ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

NATED COURSES
In order to apply for nated courses in tvet colleges you need to have passed your grade 12 or your intro N4 course. 

To enter N4 – Intro N4 and or Grade 12
To enter N5 – N4 Certificate
To enter N6 – N5 Certificate
To apply for a National N-Diploma – N6 Certificate plus 2 000 hours of practical experience in industry (to be logged in a prescribed logbook).

NCV COURSES 
inorder to apply for ncv courses in tvet colleges you need to have passed your 
Grade 9 for entry into Level 2
Passed ITEC Level 2 for entry into Level 3
Passed ITEC Level 3 for entry into Level 4
 

N1-N3 COURSES
In order to appy for N1-3 courses you need to meet the following requirements. 

N1: Minimum of Grade 11 and you must be registered as an apprentice with a company. 
N2: N1 or equivalent
N3: N2 or equivalent
 

SA TVET COLLEGES COURSE DURATION

NATED COURSES 

  • Each National (N) Level Certificate takes 6 months to complete
  • To complete all the National Certificates will take at least 1 year six months to 2 years.
  • Enrolment is in January and July
  • You will require 18 months industry experience to convert the Certificates to a N-Diploma.

After completion of the N4 – N6 Certificates students need to complete 18 months in industry/practical before qualifying for National N-Diploma through the department of Higher Education and Training. 

NCV COURSES

  • You will study 3 years full-time
  • Enrolment in January (Part-time - Available in some tvet colleges)

N1-N3 COURSES

  • Each level is one trimester (12 weeks)
  • Enrolment in January, May or September
  • Part-time options are available

APPLICATION FEE

No application fee is required when applying in tvet colleges. 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 

  1. Your certified ID copy
  2. Your certified matric certificate or your grade 11 final report
  3. Your parent/next of kin certified ID copy
  4. Your proof of residence
  5. Your photo (some colleges)

TVET COLLEGES OPENING AND CLOSING DATES

Tvet colleges open through out the year at different times for second trimester, semester and the following year. It is important to keep visiting college websites to stay updated on their opening and closing dates as they vary.
