The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges across South Africa are preparing to open second trimester applications for the 2025 academic year. These TVET Colleges have started announcing the opening and closing dates of the second trimester application period for 2025. Majority of TVET Colleges will open 2025 second trimester applications from 01 February 2025 to 30 April 2025. Please note that the opening and closing dates of TVET colleges vary slightly. Financial Aid Opportunities
A major concern for students pursuing tertiary education is the financial burden. NSFAS has addressed this issue by annually opening its funding applications for TVET college students enrolling in the second trimester intake.
The NSFAS applications for 2025 trimester 2 are not yet open and the opening dates are not yet announced. What it is important to note is that students without funding in 2025 can confidently apply in TVET colleges for trimester 2 without having to worry about financial constraints as NSFAS applications will open in due time.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) covers tuition fees, accommodation, and other expenses, making it possible for many students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access vocational education.
Students are encouraged to submit their applications early to avoid last-minute complications. Once applications close, colleges will begin processing and reviewing applications and notify candidates about their acceptance status. Students who successfully apply for the second trimester will start their studies around May 2025.
